If you thought Ariana Grande was going to take a side in the Nicki Minaj vs. Travis Scott shade war then you’d be wrong – despite some comments that have been taken out of context.
ICYMI, things have been a little tense since Nicki Minaj blasted Travis’s new LP Astroworld as only beating her to Number 1 spot in the album charts because he’s with Kylie Jenner, who had basically posted telling fans to buy his album and come see her and Stormi on his upcoming tour.
“You got your girlfriend selling tour passes,” Minaj said on her Beats 1 show earlier this month. “Stop it. Knock it the f*** off.”
Then there was this tweet:
Bit awkward really. And because Ariana and Nicki are so close, people assumed that a tongue in cheek comment Ari made about Travis still having the potential to beat her to the top chart spot on her own release week was her throwing shade his way.
“We got three days left,” Grande jokes in a video captured by a fan at The Vic in Chicago when asked if she’s confident about going to Number 1. “You don’t know what Travis could pull!”
But all’s well that ends well and Ariana’s taken to Twitter to clear a few things up and let’s just say she isn’t playing favourites:
“I adore travis & kylie and I love the astroworld album a joke issa joke watch the video, stop using me for clickbait so I can come online n celebrate my number one too pls ! hip hip hooray,” she posted to Twitter.
“Also everything literally almost everything i say i say for comedic effect and am never serious …. like i’m always “on”…. if ever u think i’m being shady i’m jus goin for the laugh ….. if i’m being fr shady you’ll know i’m a v loving lil babe

In a statement to The Fader, she added: “I f***ing love Kylie and that’s not going to change.”
She continues: “This is not real life, this is entertainment. I love Kylie and so do my fans… We’re not going to start any dumbass cat fights for your entertainment. This is strictly music, between musicians…She supported her man like she should. Me and my fans are not feeding into this.”
Case closed, we guess.
