One issue from all this morning’s trauma at Taunton is that it may settle the issue of who finishes as runners-up to champions Surrey.
And there is £16,000 riding on it – the difference between runners-up (£32,000) and the team in third (£16,000).
Somerset had only earned one bonus point this week, which had allowed 2017 champions Essex to close on them after a run of three wins in four games.

But the extra five points Somerset pick up from the draw now significantly increases their chance of finishing second. They go into their final game next week needing just six points to be sure of runners-up spot. They are against Notts at Trent Bridge, while Essex, now 19 points behind, face Surrey at The Oval.
Champions Surrey, incidentally, won £70,000 – two and a half times less than the £175,000 banked by Worcestershire for winning the T20 Blast on Saturday night.
